A contemporary pop-rock band led and organized by passionate student musicians, Fortune Star is dedicated to bringing the joy of music to all audiences — at community centers, local events, nonprofit fundraisers, drives, and much more — while promoting cultural exchange between modern Eastern and Western music styles.
A joint program by UCODA and iSchool of Music & Art, Fortune Star Band is a pop-rock band organized and run by energetic middle and high school student volunteers from the Nassau community. Blending a mix of contemporary Eastern and Western music styles, ranging from K-Pop and C-Pop to well-known American songs like Take On Me, Fortune Star Band is an expanding and widely-recognized contemporary music group that seeks to entertain and bring the joy of music to all audiences — including the young musicians in the band — as we keep everyone in the crowd singing, cheering, and dancing along with our music.
Fortune Star Band is made up of passionate and talented student musicians across Nassau who sing, play guitar, bass, percussion, piano, saxophone, trumpet, violin, viola, cello, flute, and a variety of musical instruments. We have performed at various venues around the community (20+), impacting numerous diverse groups of enthusiastic listeners, at concert halls, local and organizational public events, community centers, nonprofit fundraisers, food drives, cultural celebrations, senior centers, galas, music institutions, fairs, and many more.
